Buddha
Prince, Religious Master, Enlightened One, "Founder" of Buddhism

Buddha, or Siddhartha Gautama, was the prince who had everything, but realised that true peace didn't lie in gilded palaces, but in a tranquil mind.
Born around the 6th century BC in present-day Nepal, he grew up surrounded by luxury, until one day he decided to get out of his bubble and came face to face with the reality of human suffering. Shocked, he dropped everything, became a spiritual wanderer and, after much meditation (and a few years of radical asceticism), reached enlightenment under a tree - proving that sometimes a good reflection in the open air can solve a lot.
From then on, he spent the rest of his life teaching about the middle way, detachment and how to escape the cycle of suffering called samsara. He died at the age of 80, but his philosophy lives on, helping many people to find balance - or at least to take a deep breath before freaking out.
