A laboratory for thinking minds.
Barbara Ehrenreich
Writer, Journalist and Activist

Barbara Ehrenreich was a journalist and writer who had no time for small talk — especially when it came to capitalism. Born in 1941 in the United States, she traded her career in biology for a mission to expose social injustices with data, irony and a lot of courage.
She gained worldwide fame with Nickel and Dimed, a book in which she infiltrated the world of low-paid jobs to show, in no uncertain terms, that ‘work hard and you'll succeed in life’ is a huge lie for many people.
A feminist, fierce critic of inequality and owner of a sharp sense of humour, she wrote about everything from poverty to toxic optimism, always with that attitude of someone who is laughing just to avoid punching the system. She died in 2022, but left behind a body of work that still shakes minds and upsets powerful people — which, let's face it, was exactly the idea.
