PERSONAL GROWTH WITHOUT ILLUSIONS!
Élisabeth Roudinesco
Historian, Psychoanalyst and Researcher

Élisabeth Roudinesco is a French historian and psychoanalyst who decided to make psychoanalysis a pop culture topic — but without losing its intellectual elegance. Born in Paris in 1944, she grew up surrounded by books, heated debates and Freudian analyses, as if she had grown up drinking coffee and eating croissants.
A (critical) disciple of Lacan, she has written courageous and provocative biographies, such as those of her master Jacques Lacan and the old Freud, without glossing over anything or resorting to hagiography. Roudinesco has become a reference when it comes to the history of ideas and psychoanalysis, always mixing heavy theory with writing that does not require a couch to be understood.
A human rights activist, staunch defender of critical thinking and declared enemy of modern reductionism, she continues to challenge certainties — all with that French charm of someone who analyses you with just a glance.
