PERSONAL GROWTH WITHOUT ILLUSIONS!
Sherry Turkle
Professor, Psychologist and Sociologist

Sherry Turkle is an American who decided to become the voice of digital consciousness amid the noise of notifications. Born in 1948, she began studying psychoanalysis and philosophy, but it was when computers came on the scene that she really got excited — like, ‘What are these machines doing to us?’
A professor at MIT, she has become a leading authority on technology and behaviour, publishing books that show that, ironically, the more connected we are, the more alone we can feel.
Turkle is not technophobic, but she warns that it might be a good idea to put down your mobile phone from time to time and have a real conversation, with your voice, eye to eye and without emojis. Still active and sharp, she continues to analyse our relationship with screens as if she were listening to a group therapy session — something that many people need.
