Yuval Noah Harari

Medievalist, Military Historian, Intellectual and Writer

Yuval Noah Harari is the man who decided to tell the story of all humanity — from hunter-gatherers to algorithms — in less than 500 pages, and made it look easy.

Born in 1976 in Haifa, he graduated in history, earned a PhD from Oxford and became world famous with his bestseller Sapiens, in which he showed that what sets us apart is not our opposable thumb, but our ability to believe in fictions (such as money, nations and religions).

He has written other works, in which he explores possible futures, artificial intelligence, ethics, and how we are leaving control of our lives in the hands of those who understand a lot about data and little about humanity. Vegan, meditator, and avowed fan of silence, Harari is the kind of intellectual who speaks to heads of state and YouTubers with the same Buddhist calm — while kindly warning us that we may be screwed.
