Robert Sapolsky

Scientist, Writer, Professor and Researcher

Robert Sapolsky

Robert Maurice Sapolsky is the scientist who, in a brilliant and irreverent way, has managed to mix biology, human behaviour and a bit of mental chaos, all with a touch of acid humour.

Born in 1957 in the United States, he is a neuroscientist, primatologist and, of course, the author of bestsellers such as ‘Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers’, in which he explains how stress affects our health in an almost comical way. Sapolsky spent years studying monkeys in Africa, and his observations of animal behaviour brought shocking insights into human nature - such as the fact that we are basically a bunch of stressed-out monkeys trying to get along.

As well as being a scientist, he is a born storyteller, with an accessible approach that gets even the most sceptical interested in biology. Today, he continues to divide his time between lectures, books and explaining, with a sarcastic smile, why we are all so complicated.
