Epicurus
Philosopher and Founder of Epicureanism

Epicurus was the guy who invented the philosophy of ‘the good life is the quiet life’ - and yes, he still has a lot of followers today. Born in 341 BC on the island of Samos, he was a Greek philosopher who decided that the secret to happiness was simple: pleasure without exaggeration and without pain.
He founded a school called the Garden, where he preached that the pursuit of intellectual pleasure and friendship were the greatest sources of happiness. No excesses! He believed that the absence of pain (physical and mental) and the cultivation of simple things were the true path to inner peace.
Contrary to what some people think, Epicurus wasn't about endless parties, but about finding pleasure in the little things, away from the hustle and bustle. If you think he was wrong, remember: he was the kind of philosopher who thought that even the gods had more to do than worry about us.
