PERSONAL GROWTH WITHOUT ILLUSIONS!
Erich Fromm
Humanist Philosopher, Sociologist and Psychoanalyst

Erich Fromm was one of those guys who definitely didn't go unnoticed in the history of human thought. Born in 1900 in Frankfurt, Germany, he was a mixture of psychoanalyst, philosopher, sociologist and, if possible, even a ‘don't follow the herd’ life counsellor.
The son of a Jewish family, he saw the horrors of the Nazi regime up close and personal, which led him, in a way, to leave Germany and move to the USA, where he became a key figure in psychoanalysis and the analysis of society.
His books, such as ‘The Art of Loving’ and ‘The Fear of Freedom’, are practically manuals for understanding the dilemmas of human beings in modern society, always with a touch of sharp criticism of capitalism and alienation.
Basically, Fromm wanted us all to be more human and less like cogs in a machine. He died in 1980, but between you and me, he's probably still in ‘deep reflection’ mode somewhere.
